MAKE UP WORK ALERT!!!!
Today I will be giving out slips to those who are missing grades for weekly quizzes. Tomorrow I'll be letting you know if you are missing a vocabulary quiz grade. The last date to submit makeup work is OCTOBER 31st! That is halfway through this six weeks, and the last day you can make up for anything you've missed in the second six weeks term so far. As a reminder, here is how you make up work:
1. Vocabulary Quiz: For every quiz you miss you have to turn in 40 translated words--in English and Spanish
2. Weekly Quiz: You can come either before school or after school to take the quiz, or you can attend the National Honor Society tutoring session for 20 minutes. You will need to sign in and out with Mr. Caviness and have the tutor that helped you sign a paper saying what time you came and what you worked on while you are there. Even if they haven't taken Spanish, they can still quiz you on your vocabulary!
DO NOT LET A ZERO BRING DOWN YOUR AVERAGE!!!!! :)

Creative Project #2
Country Powerpoint
In this project you will do a powerpoint demonstration for the class about five different countries we study during this six weeks period. The countries will be:
Panama
Peru
Spain
Cuba
Honduras
I will give you a rubric with more details regarding the grading later, but for each country you must highlight at least 3 of the following elements.
Music/musicians Traditional food
Art/artists Past relations with United States
Traditional clothing Daily life of teenagers
Major historical figures Geographic regions/climates
Past wars Popular sports or well known athletes
Famous writers Government structure
You can pick three things and do the same three for each country, or you can do different elements for each country. But, in your presentation, each country must have three of these elements explained, with pictures to go along. Each Friday, we will be going to the computer lab to give you time to work on these presentations. Use this time wisely!!!!
This can be a really fun project. Google away! Learn about these wonderful countries, their people, their culture, their music. The world is an incredibly interesting place—dig in!!
